Not Like a Stranger – a book of photographs
"A family portrait" – photography project with the families of Unitaf's children.
The concept, "family," takes on a very different meaning when we look at the children from the families of migrant workers and asylum seekers. Many changes take place in the classical family structure during the process of emigration and we encounter families from different origins, cultures, with special makeups, both local and trans-Atlantic families.
"A family portrait" is the product of a unique collaboration between Unitaf and the photography studio of Eyal Landsman and Eldad Rafaeli. The families of the foreign community's children were documented in the project in all their complexity. During the project, 16 photographers accompanied 16 families for two months whose children attend Unitaf programs and documented their lives. The project permits a unique look into the familial intimacy woven among people into a transparent community, generally hidden from the public eye.
The exciting, fascinating results of this encounter were presented in an exhibition and riveting book of photographs: "NOT LIKE A STRANGER."
The photographs appearing in the exhibition may be purchased as well as a copy of the book accompanying the exhibition. All proceeds from the sale of photos and books are dedicated to Unitaf's children.
