This Passover, we recall the exodus of our ancestors through the Sinai Desert to the Land of Israel, as they sought a better future for their children.
Today we are facing a global migration crisis with millions of people leaving their homelands, fleeing persecution, war, dictatorships, and forced conscription. Like our Jewish ancestors, they are seeking a better life for themselves and their children.
Tel-Aviv was the destination of thousands of asylum seeker s from Eritrea and Sudan. Their journey to Israel through the Sinai Desert was perilous and devastating, and they sought refuge here in Israel, in the nation of refugees.
At Unitaf, we provide a refuge for the many women, children and families who come through our doors- like Titi Tekle, the woman in the clip below. Titi came to Israel in 2008, and began working with Unitaf first as a home nursery provider to six babies, and now as a small business owner of two day care classrooms as well as directing other caregivers.
We train women to become qualified childcare workers and small business owners so that they will be able to learn a new profession, provide for their families, and become financially independent. We offer their children the best quality day-care available, so that they will grow up full of hope for their future.
Your donation to Unitaf means that we can reach more children, provide employment for more women from the refugee community, and create a better sense of hope and opportunity for the entire refugee community.
